Cosy Campfires and Autumn Adventures: Outdoor Learning This November
There’s something truly magical about November in the woods, golden leaves carpeting the forest floor, the smoky scent of campfires in the air, and the quiet rustle of wildlife preparing for winter. At A Touch of the Wild, this is one of our favourite times of year to learn and play outside.
Here’s why autumn adventures are such an important part of our forest school journey.
🍁 Embracing the Season Through Play
At Wild Tots and Wildlings Forest Kindergarten, the change in season brings a whole new world to explore. Children splash in muddy puddles, collect colourful leaves, and learn how nature prepares for winter. Every rustling tree and busy squirrel sparks curiosity and wonder.
We don’t fight the weather, we dress for it and dive right in!
🔥 Campfire Cooking and Cosy Moments
One of the highlights of our autumn sessions is gathering around the campfire. Children help collect sticks, learn about fire safety, and enjoy comforting seasonal treats like hot chocolate, popcorn, or toasted crumpets. These moments bring warmth, connection, and joy, building memories that last long after the embers fade.
🎨 Forest Crafts Inspired by Nature
November is full of inspiration for creative, hands-on learning. Children make leaf crowns, stick stars, and pine cone creatures, all using natural materials they’ve gathered themselves. These activities boost fine motor skills, spark imagination, and help children develop a deeper connection with the natural world.
🧣 How We Keep Little Ones Warm and Happy
Parents often ask us how we manage the colder months outdoors and the answer is simple: layers, movement, and smiles. Our team are experts in keeping children warm and engaged, with plenty of active play, hot drinks, and shelter when needed. Once they’re wrapped up in woolly hats and waterproofs, they’re free to enjoy the wild in all its glory.
🌿 Make the Most of Autumn with Us
Whether it’s your first time in the woods or your little one is already a forest school fan, November is the perfect time to join in the fun. Come and see how outdoor learning builds confidence, independence, and a real love of nature, even (especially!) when it’s muddy.
