What’s On: Autumn/Winter

All of our events take place in beautiful woodland at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, near Exeter and we run many different events throughout the year for families with kids of all ages. We’ve got lots of fun happening in camp over Autumn/Winter, including our Halloween Family Fun Day, October Half Term Woodland Adventure Club, Wreath Making and our very special Christmas Family Fun Day. Halloween Family Fun Day – Saturday 26th October 10-12

Come and have a fang-tastic time in the woods with us on Saturday 26th October 10-12. We’ve got loads of spook-tacular games planned including a broomstick making, apple bobbing, scary face painting and lots more besides. Cook up a trick (not a treat) in our mud kitchen and make like a bat and hang around in our new woodland playground. We will be serving a witches brew round the campfire and enjoying marshmallow treats. 

Tickets just £6 per person (adult or child over 18 months, babies free with older sibling). Price includes refreshments (hot chocolate/hot drinks).

Woodland Adventure Club

Join us in the woods over the October Half Term for Holiday Club! We have spaces available on 22/23/24th October 9am-5pm. £35 pp, book online for one or more days. We are really pleased to announce that we are OFSTED registered and can accept childcare vouchers!

There’s so much to do, we can’t list it all – but this gives you an idea of the fun in store. Our activities will also have a Halloween theme… pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and broomstick making. Suitable for age 5 upwards, it’s the perfect opportunity for kids to let off some energy whilst learning valuable new skills.

• Cooking over the campfire – from vegetarian choices to camping favourites
• Monkeying about in hammocks in our woodland playground
• Building great adventure dens and camps
• Exploring our new woodland treehouse
• Wild food foraging including what wild foods are safe to eat

Christmas Wreath Making – Saturday 7th December 10-12

Is it too early for the C word?!?! Come along to camp to learn how to make a beautiful Christmas wreath with camp leader Beccy Spiers, using a mix of seasonal foliage and natural materials gathered from the surrounding woodland. Mulled apple and mince pies included, as well as your handmade wreath to take home for your front door!

Tickets £18, adults only. Price includes refreshments (hot drinks & homemade mince pies) for all. Book now!

Christmas Family Fun Day – Saturday 14th December 10-12

Back for our fifth year of celebrating a magical Christmas event! Join us in Grammarcombe Woods for a festive celebration at our woodland camp. We’ll start with some games followed by a Christmas craft activity, making a Christmas gift to take home and keep! The event will feature a surprise visit from Santa, who will join us from within the woodland with his elf helper and a special gift for every child!

Tickets £9.50 child over 18 months, £6.50 adult. Price includes a Christmas gift for the children and refreshments (hot chocolate/ hot drinks) for all.

Children under 18 months can attend free of charge with an older sibling; however if your child is under 18 months but would like food and a gift, or if they are not with an older sibling, then you must book a ticket for them too. Book now!

Birthday Parties – availability throughout the year

Our Woodland Birthday Parties take place in a secret location deep in the woodland at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, Near Exeter. We’ll make our way to our camp with our Forest School Leader and Assistant, following a blindfold trail to find the secret location. Starting with a game or two to burn off some excited energy, we’ll then gather around the campfire to learn about lighting campfires without matches safely. There will be plenty of opportunity for the children to try out their den building skills and enjoy our new woodland playground and mud kitchen followed by a camouflage hiding game and marshmallow toasting over the campfire. There’s time for delicious campfire sizzling sausages in a roll (if booked), before the party ends with a Happy Birthday song for the Birthday Boy or Girl. Got an older child or have a specific idea for the party? No problem – just let us know. We run events for all ages – children, teens and adults and will adapt our party activities according to the needs and ages of the group. Make their party a really wild one!

We now offer a selection of themed options for your birthday party, if you wish. Please mention in your booking notes if you would like to add a theme to your party!

• Dragons and magic for 5+ years includes a dragon egg hunt, magic wand crafting and our very own potion parlour!
• Fairy and Elf for 4+ years includes a Teddy Trail, crafting Fairy/Elf crowns and moulding Fairy doors from clay.
• Robin Hood for 6+ years includes a wild treasure trail, Robin Hood crafting and Bow and Arrow Target Practice!
• Campfire Cooking and Crafts for 10+ years (Pre-Teen) includes gathering wild wood, cooking campfire treats, a fire lighting challenge and dream catcher crafting. (Must be booked as a party with food.)
• Survival and Camouflage for 10 + years (Pre-Teen) includes gathering and splitting wood, lighting a fire using natural materials, campfire cooking and building survival shelters! (Must be booked as a party with food.)
