Administrator (Forest School)


A Touch of the Wild is a leading outdoor education provider in Devon, offering enriching nature-based programmes for children and families. We run Wildlings Forest Kindergarten, Wild Tots sessions, school holiday clubs, woodland parties and more, all inspired by the Forest School ethos.

We’re on the lookout for a brilliant administrator to join our small but passionate team and help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role

This flexible, part-time role is perfect for someone with a background in nursery or preschool administration who is self-motivated, loves organisation, nature, and working with families. You’ll be central to the smooth running of our Forest Kindergarten and family programmes, supporting everything from staff rotas to DCC EY (Devon County Council Early Years) funding and headcount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage enquiries and communication with parents (via email/phone)
  • Execute Early Years headcount for Devon County Council (essential)
  • Handle bookings and customer communication across our programmes
  • Maintain staff rotas and assist with recruitment admin when needed
  • Support marketing admin – newsletters, social posts, and website updates
  • Keep our systems and processes organised (training will be provided)
  • Collaborate with our small team to support the day-to-day running of our programmes
  • Liaising with our bookkeeper to calculate and organise invoices for parents.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in nursery/preschool admin (essential)
  • Experience with Devon County Council headcount (essential)
  • Friendly, approachable and professional communicator with parents and customers
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Flexible, adaptable, and happy working independently
  • Enthusiastic about outdoor education and the Forest School ethos
  • Confident with basic tech (Excel, Google Drive, email platforms etc.)
  • Somebody who can work in school holidays, as this is a year round position.

Additional Info

  • This is a freelance/self-employed position, but for the right person could be permanent.
  • Interviews to be held on Monday 12th February
  • Start date ideally 17th February to allow a handover with our current administrator.
