Try at home – Campfire Welsh Cakes!

Here’s what you’ll need for our vegan welsh cakes: 
  • 220g Plain flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder 
  • 55g Sugar
  • 110g Vegan butter
  • 1 tbsp Ground flax seed + 4 tbsp water (to replace the egg)
  • 75g Currants (any dried fruit would be great)
  • 1/2tsp Mixed spice

Step 1 – Mix water and ground flaxseed and set aside to thicken
Step 2 – Mix flour and baking powder
Step 3 – Rub diced vegan butter into the flour
Step 4 – Mix in the sugar, dried fruit and spice
Step 5 – Add the flax ‘egg’
Step 6 – Gently mix into a dough

Once you’ve formed your dough, roll the mixture out and cut circular biscuit shapes.
Place each biscuit onto a pan or flat griddle and cook until lightly golden brown on the outside and cooked on the inside!
