Try at home recipe… Apple Flapjacks

We’ve been enjoying mixing and cooking these at camp with the children this week. A real hit and the added bonus they don’t contain sugar! We cooked them in our Dutch oven over the campfire, but oven cooking will be just as good.


  • 200g Oats
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 60g sultanas
  • 2 Cooking apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 120ml vegetable or sunflower oil
  •  50g ground almonds


  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees 
  • Cook apples until they’re soft
  • Mix oats and ground almonds
  • Add cooked apple and oil 
  • Lightly grease a 20 x 20cm baking tin and add the mixture
  • Press into the corners with the back of a spoon so the mixture is flat and score into 12 squares
  • Bake for around 20 minutes until golden
