Try at home recipe…Chocolate Orange Cakes

Last week at Wild Tots, we made Chocolate Cake in Oranges. Give this recipe a go, and send in a photo for us to share on Facebook!


  • 200g Self Raising flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 100ml juice from the oranges


  • Stir all ingredients together
  • Cut off and keep top of oranges. Use as lids. Scoop most of the flesh out, leaving a small amount lining the orange skin (cake will taste less bitter)
  • Sieve Orange juice into jug to serve with the cake.
  • Put a small spoonful of cake mix into the bottom of each orange – IT WILL EXPAND!! Allow plenty of room inside.
  • Most people wrap in foil and pop into the oven for 15 mins, check if done.
  • The cake comes out quite wet and orange juicy but lovely straight out of the orange with a spoon!
